It’s a long-expected development, so it hardly bears me posting on it. It is, however, a significant defeat in the Religious Right’s decades-long war on science. As CNN reports, President Obama has once again resumed federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research:

President Obama signed an executive order Monday repealing a Bush-era policy that limited federal tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research.
President Obama signs the executive order on stem cell policy Monday at the White House.

Obama’s move overturns an order signed by President Bush in 2001 that barred the National Institutes of Health from funding research on embryonic stem cells beyond using 60 cell lines that existed at that time.

The Religious Right, of course, is at war against science on several fronts; stem-cell research is but one of those. So much remains to be done. But this is a clear-cut victory and a step in the right direction nevertheless.
