(Getty)Having already displayed their raging, sanctimonious immaturity over some Qur’ans that had been burned at the Bagram military base in their country, Afghans decided to ramp it up even further, and have killed over it. CBS News reports on this murderous childishness (WebCite cached article):

Two U.S. troops have been shot to death and four more wounded by an Afghan solider who turned his gun on his allies in apparent anger over the burning of Qurans at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, an Afghan official tells CBS News.

A statement from the International Security Assistance Force – Afghanistan, the international coalition in the country, confirmed that two troops were killed in Eastern Afghanistan on Thursday by “an individual wearing an Afghan National Army uniform.” …

The source also said the shooting appeared to be motivated by the burning of Qurans at the sprawling U.S. Bagram air base, north of Kabul, but he did not provide additional details as to what led him to that conclusion.

Way to go, Afghans. Congratulations. Well done! I’m impressed. You must all be so proud of your accomplishment!

Update 1: Afghan immaturity continues to impress. As of Saturday, 2/25/2012, the violent protests continue, and more people have died as a result (cached). There doesn’t appear to be any end in sight.

Interred knightPastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida — the childish moron who wants to celebrate the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by burning copies of the Qur’an, as I’ve blogged a couple times already — turns out to have had some trouble back when he was living in Germany. (Surprised? I’m not. Childish cretins like him usually leave a trail of problems behind as they go through their pitiful, sorry lives.) Germany’s Der Spiegel reports on what they’ve found about his time there (WebCite cached version):

US fundamentalist pastor Terry Jones, who wants to burn copies of the Koran on Sept. 11, ran a church in the western German city of Cologne until last year when members of the congregation expelled him. Former members have spoken of his hate-filled sermons and insistence on “blind obedience.” …

In the United States, Jones has already attracted attention on several occasions as an Islamophobic provocateur. What is less well known is that the pastor led a charismatic evangelical church, the Christian Community of Cologne, in the western German city up until 2009. Last year, however, the members of the congregation kicked founder Jones out, because of his radicalism. One of the church’s current leaders, Stephan Baar, also told the German news agency DPA that there had been suspicions of financial irregularities in the church surrounding Jones.

A “climate of fear and control” had previously prevailed in the congregation, says one former member of the church who does not want to be named. Instead of free expression, “blind obedience” was demanded, he says.

Various witnesses gave SPIEGEL ONLINE consistent accounts of the Jones’ behavior. The pastor and his wife apparently regarded themselves as having been appointed by God, meaning opposition was a crime against the Lord. Terry and Sylvia Jones allegedly used these methods to ask for money in an increasingly insistent manner, as well as making members of the congregation carry out work.

One of the persons interviewed by Der Spiegel was Andrew Shäfer, a Protestant church official who was responsible for monitoring religious activity in the Cologne region. He had quite a bit to say about the juvenile Pastor Jones:

Former church members are still undergoing therapy as a result of “spiritual abuse,” Schäfer said. According to Schäfer, Jones urged church members to beat their children with a rod and also taught “a distinctive demonology” and conducted brainwashing.

“Terry Jones appears to have a delusional personality,” speculates Schäfer. When he came to Germany in the 1980s, Jones apparently considered Cologne “a city of Hell that was founded by Nero’s mother,” while he thought Germany was “a key country for the supposed Christian revival of Europe,” Schäfer says. …

By the end of 2007, the community had had enough. Members confronted him and tried to change the direction of the church. But Terry Jones refused to make changes, they say. In the end, Jones, his wife and their fellow preachers were expelled from the church and he moved back to the US. “The community imploded,” says Schäfer. It only has some 80 active members today.

What Germany wouldn’t deal with any more, the people of the US, especially Gainesville, must now accept. What a wonderful creature this guy is.

In a move that makes sense only to a mob of delusional religionists, a bunch of folks in Afghanistan — allegedly spurred on by the Taliban — launched a violent demonstration over rumors that copies of the Qur’an, Islam’s holy text, had been destroyed by foreigners. Agence France-Presse reports via Google News (WebCite cached article):

Seven dead in Afghanistan Koran protest shooting

Seven people were killed during protests in Afghanistan sparked by rumours foreign troops had desecrated a Koran, an official said Wednesday, blaming Taliban for inciting the unrest.

Investigators sent to the southern province of Helmand found that no desecration of the Muslim holy book had taken place in the military operation Monday, said Daud Ahmadi, spokesman for the provincial governor. …

Officers of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) had fired on demonstrators in self-defence after one intelligence officer was shot dead in gunfire that came from the protesters, Ahmadi said.

“A total of six demonstrators were killed and around 10 were wounded,” he said.

This protest was a reaction to rumors (yes, only rumors!) of something that had happened earlier:

The demonstrators had descended on the local NDS office after word spread that foreign soldiers had desecrated a Koran during an operation against Taliban-linked drug dealers on Monday, Ahmadi said.

The crowd attacked the building in an attempt to free the prisoners, he said, adding that the shooting started during this melee.

The investigators found that when foreign soldiers arrived on the scene they were pelted with stones by the demonstrators, but did not open fire, he said.

“The protesters fired at intelligence officials, killing one. The intelligence officials fired back in self defence,” he told AFP, citing the report.

Afghan and NATO officials insist no such desecration had taken place … but when you’re a foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid, unthinking hyperreligious nutcase, little details — such as whether or not whatever event has outraged you, actually occurred — hardly matter all that much.

If the deceased protesters are lucky … and if their ferocious and deadly version of Islam is true … then right now they’re in Heaven with 72 houris each. If not, then they’ve died for nothing.

Good riddance. It’s too bad an intelligence officer had to die because these demontrators were too insanely sanctimonious to actually stop and think for a moment before they went berserk.
