On top of the rest of the brouhaha in Hartford over the Catholic church, about which I’ve blogged a few times already, TV station Fox 61 in Hartofrd reports the state’s capitol police are investigating what they call credible death threats against the legislators at the heart of the controversy:

Capitol Police Chief Mike Fallon says his department is investigating a serious threat, sent in an email, directed at State Representative Mike Lawlor and Senator Andrew McDonald.

Both Democratic Lawmakers have take [sic] a lot of heat during the past few days concerning a recent bill they were set to hear, as co-chairs of the Judiciary Committee, that would have set new guidelines as to how the Catholic Church controls its finances.

That’s the way, guys. Don’t like something, threaten those responsible. What a fantastic way to express one’s Christian beliefs. Keep it up … definitely. You guys are living down to all my expectations of religionists.

Catholics in my home state of Connecticut have finally gone over the edge and become thoroughly infantilized. Not only did they recently stage a protest over proposed legislation that had already been killed (as I blogged about earlier), they’ve decided to continue their childish antics against the bill’s sponsors, as the Greenwich Time reports:

Sen. Andrew McDonald, D-Stamford, may march in the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday. If he does, the city’s division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America is threatening to avoid the event. …

To their credit, parade organizers will not capitulate to the Hibernians’ tantrum:

Jim Bartley, chairman of the Stamford St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, said Thursday that organizers declined the Hibernians’ request to withdraw its invitation to McDonald over his support of a controversial proposal altering how Catholic churches oversee their finances.

Although founded by the Hibernians, “the St. Patrick’s Day Committee is a separate entity from the ancient order.” Bartley said. “Andrew McDonald is welcome to march.”

Apparently it’s not enough for these rabid, juvenile Catholics that they won this battle. They also got an apology from McDonald. But apparently they want more than just victory and an apology:

McDonald on Wednesday issued an apology for his handling of the matter, but O’Connor said it was not enough.

In a two-page letter outlining the reasons for wanting to exclude McDonald from the parade, the Hibernians also mentioned his support for legislation requiring all hospitals, including Catholic ones, to provide emergency contraception to sexual assault victims and for stem cell research.

Unfortunately for them, however, these additional objections to McDonald are not based on fact, as the Time goes on to explain:

According to legislative records, those bills did not originate in the Judiciary Committee and were ultimately supported by many Democrats and Republicans and signed by Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

This means that these irrational and childish freaks are blaming McDonald for legislation he wasn’t actually responsible for. Way to go folks … stamp and fume and bluster over someone who isn’t even guilty of all the things you’re stamping and fuming and blustering over.

Is it not finally evident what lengths of immaturity religionists will stoop to in the name of their beliefs? When are Americans finally going to grow the hell up and stop this endless litany of outrage already?
